A Vietnam honeymoon gives you three very different settings in under a week: a night on a boat among limestone islands, lantern-lit evenings in an old trading town, and a beach. It is also cheaper on the ground than most honeymoon destinations Indian couples consider. This page covers what a Vietnam honeymoon package or a custom trip really costs for two, a 6-day plan and where to stay. How much does a Vietnam honeymoon cost for a couple?
For two people, 6 days and 5 nights, flights from Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru. Checked Oct 2026; treat these as ranges.
| Item, for two | Under ₹1.5 lakh | ₹1.5 to 3 lakh | ₹3 lakh+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return flights | ₹55,000 | ₹75,000 | ₹1,10,000 |
| E-visas | ₹4,400 | ₹4,400 | ₹4,400 |
| Hotels, 4 nights on land | ₹14,000 (about ₹3,500 a night) | ₹45,000 (about ₹11,000 a night) | ₹1,40,000 (about ₹35,000 a night) |
| Overnight cruise, one cabin | ₹26,000 | ₹45,000 | ₹70,000 |
| Domestic flight, Hanoi to Da Nang | ₹7,000 | ₹12,000 | ₹18,000 |
| Food and drinks | ₹10,000 | ₹25,000 | ₹50,000 |
| Transfers and experiences (spa, cooking class, Ba Na Hills) | ₹12,000 | ₹20,000 | ₹30,000 |
| Total for two | About ₹1,28,000 | About ₹2,26,000 | About ₹4,22,000 |
The two things that move the total most are the cruise cabin and the Hoi An hotel. A balcony cabin and a riverside room cost more, but they are where you spend the honeymoon.
What does a 6-day Vietnam honeymoon look like?
Slow mornings, one big thing a day, and only two hotel changes after Hanoi.
Day 1: Hanoi
Land, check in near Hoan Kiem Lake and walk the lake in the evening. Dinner in the French Quarter, or the water puppet show if you have energy.
Day 2: Lan Ha Bay cruise
Pickup around 8 am, on board by lunch. Kayak together in the afternoon, then sunset and dinner on deck. Ask for a cabin with a private balcony.
Day 3: Cruise to Hoi An
A slow breakfast on the water, back on land late morning, then fly from Hanoi to Da Nang. Reach Hoi An by evening for the lanterns.
Day 4: Hoi An
Old town in the morning before the crowds (120,000 VND each). Visit a tailor if you want matching outfits made. A couples spa in the afternoon, then a lantern boat on the Thu Bon River at dusk.
Day 5: Ba Na Hills or the beach
Early start for the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills (1,000,000 VND each), or a slow day at An Bang beach and a cooking class. Last tailor fitting. A good dinner by the river.
Day 6: Home
Breakfast, a last walk, and the flight home via Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
Beach version (November to April): swap Hoi An for Phu Quoc. Fly from Hanoi to Phu Quoc after the cruise (about 2 hours) and spend 3 nights at the beach.
The full 5, 7 and 10 day plans are on the Vietnam itinerary.
When is the best time for a Vietnam honeymoon?
February to April for the classic Hanoi, cruise and Hoi An plan. If your wedding is in November or December, keep the north and swap Hoi An for Phu Quoc, which is dry and sunny from December. Avoid Hoi An in October and November, when the old town floods. Month by month detail: best time to visit Vietnam.
Where should you stay in Vietnam as a couple?
| Base | Splurge | Mid-range | Why couples like it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hanoi | Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi or Capella Hanoi | A boutique hotel near Hoan Kiem Lake | Walkable evenings by the lake |
| Cruise | Heritage Line Ginger, Lan Ha Bay | [HOTEL: mid-range Lan Ha Bay cruise with balcony cabins] | Small boats, quiet bay |
| Hoi An | Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai | Hotel Royal Hoi An or Namia River Retreat | River or beach, close to the lanterns |
| Phu Quoc | Regent Phu Quoc | Fusion Resort Phu Quoc | Pool villas and sunsets |
Should you book a Vietnam honeymoon package or a custom trip?
A package is fine if price is the only thing that matters. For a honeymoon, the details matter more: which cruise, which cabin, which room. Here is the honest comparison.
| What you get | Typical package | Custom trip |
|---|---|---|
| Hotels | "Or similar", confirmed after payment | Named hotels and room types |
| Cruise | Often a day trip or a large shared boat | Overnight, small boat, balcony cabin |
| Honeymoon extras | A cake and flowers | What you actually want: a private dinner, a spa, a quiet day |
| Pace | Group timings, early starts | Slow mornings built in |
| Price | Often lower upfront | Similar or a little higher, with fewer surprises |

What should you book first for a Vietnam honeymoon?
Book in this order, because this is the order things sell out for December and February travel.
- Flights. Nonstops from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru fill up in wedding season. Book 8 to 10 weeks ahead.
- The cruise. Small boats with balcony cabins have few rooms. Book as soon as flights are fixed.
- The Hoi An or Phu Quoc hotel. Ask for a river-view or pool room in writing.
- The domestic flight. Hanoi to Da Nang or Phu Quoc runs many times a day, so this can wait a little.
- E-visas. Apply on evisa.gov.vn about 3 weeks before you fly. It costs US$25 each and usually takes about 3 working days.
Small extras worth paying for: a private airport pickup on day 1, a couples spa in Hoi An, and a late checkout on the last day so you are not sitting in a lobby before an evening flight.
What do couples love in Vietnam, and what disappoints?
What couples love:
- Waking up on the cruise with the islands around you.
- Hoi An at dusk, when the lanterns come on and the old town slows down.
- How far the money goes: a very good dinner for two costs a fraction of what it would at home.
What disappoints:
- Crowds at the Golden Bridge after 10 am.
- Grey skies in Hanoi from December to February. Pretty, but not sunny.
- Packed itineraries. Couples who try to do north, centre and south in 6 days spend the honeymoon in airports.
FAQ
How much does a Vietnam honeymoon package cost from India?
About ₹1.3 lakh for two on a budget, ₹2.25 lakh mid-range and ₹4 lakh or more for luxury, for 6 days with flights, e-visas, hotels, an overnight cruise and a domestic flight.
How many days are enough for a Vietnam honeymoon?
Six days and five nights covers Hanoi, an overnight cruise and Hoi An. With 8 or 9 days, add three nights in Phu Quoc.
Is Vietnam good for a honeymoon in December?
Yes, if you pick the right regions. Hanoi and the cruise are cool and dry, and Phu Quoc is sunny. Keep Hoi An short or skip it, as December can bring showers.
Is Vietnam better than Bali for a honeymoon?
Vietnam gives you more variety in one trip: a cruise, an old town and a beach. Bali is better if you want a villa and a slow week in one place.
Which is better for a honeymoon, Hoi An or Phu Quoc?
Hoi An for atmosphere, food and evenings in the old town. Phu Quoc for beach days and a pool villa. From May to August, choose Hoi An; from November to January, Phu Quoc is the safer bet for sun; from February to April, either works.
